Can My Indoor Cat Play in the Grass?

I've always assumed that I shouldn't let my cat play in the grass because he will get fleas. He's an indoor de-clawed (regrettably) kitty with longish fur, and it pains me that I've forced him to remain indoors for the most part. With Spring upon us, it would just be a joy to let him play in the grass, but I want to be wise concerning his health. Are there vaccinations or anything that allow cats to enjoy the outdoors? Is there any way I can prevent him from catching fleas? He's had them before, and they were a pain. I think he may have caught them simply by hanging out on the deck with us, but I can't be sure. He's never really had the joy of being able to run around in the grass. Am I dreaming, is Arthur dreaming, or is there some way to make this reality without too much consequence. What do you think?

This product is supposed to be effective and safe. Remember, your cat has no defense against other aggressive animals out there, can't climb a tree for safety. http://www.cedarcidestore.com/catalo...08/5094323.htm

I would let him out but not let him on his own since he's declawed. There's some topical flea treatments that you can apply once a month. If your cat is ok with having a bath, after you bring him in, bathe him and it should remove the fleas if he does get any.
