Rats actually make amazing pets, I owned 2 when I lived in England! They were called Dexter and Chester one white and the other white and black. They were very intelligent animals, I used to leave the cage open for them in a spare room with wooden planks and stuff going up down across the room. When ever I walked in the room they would run out of their cafe and come up to see me.

I also had my playstation in their as well so when I went in to play they would come and sit on my lap and go to sleep, even groom me some times, weird!

They were great animals though and I would suggest them to any first time pet owners or any one really, my Dad hated them at first but then grew really attached to them lol!

Thanks for your input! My nephew owned a white rat many years ago, and he said it was very smart also, and a good pet.
