    Unhappy collar question

I have wireless dog collar system but when my dog gets of area which only during storms. Someone takes off his collar and it costs $200 everytime to replace it. does anyone know of a collar i could use that is lockable? I love my dog he is very large malamute and is so lovable and I dont want him hit by car.

That's so strange. If I'm not mistaken, taking the collar would be useless to someone, unless they had the rest of the system. Or in the case of a shock collar (e-collar), the remote control.

I would just secure him better during storms, or keep him inside if he's fearful of thunder, etc. I don't know of any collars that lock, but maybe you could rig something yourself, using a tiny hasp lock.

I had an Alaskan Malamute myself, many years ago, beautiful dogs. Mine was a rarer chocolate color.

Sorry someone keeps taking your stuff....that's not cool, and it's not cheap! The only thing with a locking collar is you might want to consider is that it might not be easy to get off in an emergency, like if your dog was to get hung up somewhere and was choking....

I had something like this, same brand years ago. I only used it for training purposes for pups when we were camping in unfamiliar woods, to keep them in check if they strayed too far. You have to always have the control on you and handy, so it is a hassle to use.

We have a Sportdog brand one now, but we don't use it too much, as our dog is almost 10 and a good camper/fisher dog.

I think I'll be reluctant to use the wireless collar system after this. I think I'll just try the harness one.
