Police are permitted to shoot a dog if it moves or barks when an officer enters a home, according to a federal court ruling.

The decision comes after a 2013 incident in Michigan that left two dogs dead.

Police were executing a search warrant on a home, looking for drugs, when they shot and killed two dogs.

That's crazy! I can see if the dog is lunging toward the cop in an attack mode, then it's self defense. But to think that dogs are not going to bark when a cop enters the house is unrealistic. To think they're not going to move is insane. If this is true, it's just a loophole to give cops the green light to shoot any dogs they feel like. They've been trigger happy and shot so many already, now they can feel empowered to do so. Of course, like it or not, if there's drugs and pitbulls involved, the cops will be extra aggressive and less forgiving.
