Open sore at 10 o'clock position near anus

New to this forum. But my cat has an open wound on the 10 o'clock position near his anus. My first thought was anal glands but I read those to be distinctly at the 4 and 8 o'clock positions, which this most certainly is not. Is it just an abcess/injury from some type of cat or animal fight (he is an outdoor cat)? Or is it some anal related type illness.

Hope he's ok!! Thanks for any help

Ps I have photos but I'm new and trying to figure out how to post

Please seek immediate vet care for your cat. This wound needs attention and antibiotics. Please let us know how you make out....Welcome by the way!

Here's how to post a photo. http://www.petforums.com/showthread....r-Create-Album But I agree with Esme, an open sore is nothing to play around with, it's painful and if not treated can lead to serious infections and become a much worse threat to the cat. BTW, welcome.
