    Giving cat food/fish to dogs??

First things first I know cat food is obviously for cats and dog food is for dogs. But why does cat food have to smell so good for the dogs? I gave my dogs some as a treat and they absolutely love it.

What harm can be caused from dogs eating cat food?

Is it ok to give cat food as a treat just now and again?

Fish... what fish is good for our dogs and what fish shouldn't our dogs be eating?

I thought this post would fit alright together as I think a lot of cat food is fish isn't it?

Cat's have different nutritional needs than dogs. Cats are carnivores, and demand food that is higher in protein and fat. A dog's digestive system needs some other things like carbohydrates, and feeding a dog cat food will give it a stomach ache and most likely diarrhea. However, if given just a small amount every now and then, it shouldn't be a problem.

Remember, a lot of dogs will eat almost anything like that, and act like they looove it (that's what dogs do), and of course they would eat it if allowed to until they couldn't stand up anymore. Cat food is also very fattening for the dogs. Here's some more specific information about why dogs shouldn't be fed cat food.

I don't feed my cat (or dog) a fish-based canned food, because many of the fish they use are from large fish that have very high toxic amounts of mercury, etc. They say sardines and wild salmon are alright. I give them a little bit of sardines, salmon and tuna as a treat, but not enough to cause them health issues in the future. I personally lean toward pet foods with chicken, beef, etc.
