Applying Petlock flea treatment to area where fur is missing

    Hi everyone.

My cat has fleas, and is missing a few patches of fur because of it. One of the patches runs from the back of her head until between her shoulder blades. I ordered Petlock II to kill the fleas, and it should hopefully arrive tomorrow or Monday. The videos for these types of monthly treatments show that I'm supposed to apply it around the back of the head/neck area. I'm wondering is if that is still the case if fur is missing? Is it OK to apply directly to the skin? If not, where else should I apply it?

Thanks so much for any advice

The reason for that is flea treatments are toxic when ingested. Between the shoulder blades is the only area cats can't reach when they groom themselves. So the directions will never change.

Good luck getting rid of the fleas on your cat.

You're welcome! How is the Pet Lock working so far?

It didn't arrive yet. Usps tracking number says it should come tomorrow.
Ive been using Wondercide in the mean time. I still see fleas, but she's been itching a lot less. So at least that seems to work ok enough until the Petlock comes.
I'll update once I see how the Petlock works

Better than nothing I guess, but I have never heard of it. Good to know your kitty is not scratching as much.

Wondercide is a cedarwood oil product. The one I got also has lemongrass oil. It worked well enough to help reduce the itching, but didn't get rid of the fleas.

The Petlock came on Monday, but I kept waiting to use it until I knew I'd have a couple of hours to monitor her closely so I can make sure she wouldn't try to scratch her head and groom afterwards. I ended up applying it yesterday during the early evening (like 6 or 7). It's 2:45 now, and I'm seeing a bunch of dying fleas where my cat's napping. It seems to be working so far.
