    Loving the Brushing

My Loki will purr when I start to brush him, but he doesn't like when I go to his underbelly or brush in the opposite direction. He can be purring and swipe at me at the same time. This British Shorthair seems to love it.

Some cats love to be brushed. What kind of grooming tool do you use?

I don't know way you should brush a cat the wrong direction. The undferside is more sensitive and vulnerable, so many cats hate being petted, tickled, or rubbed in that areal.
An inside cat is a safe cat.

This is what I use on Loki, the side with the soft wires. His fur is extremely thick and when I brush the opposite direction and then smooth again the right way, it removed a LOT of fur that must come out. A long time ago he had a hairball issue and I'm being very proactive to make sure it doesn't happen again. He doesn't like being petted on the stomach either, but depending on how relaxed he is, sometimes he accepts it. He really never stops purring during any brushing session.

There's also the possibility that this cat actually does mind being brushed but, being a British cat, feels it would not be polite to bring it up.

If the BSH purrs, I would assume that is not the case.
