JustFoodForDogs, of Los Alamitos, California, just issued a voluntary recall of its cooked frozen dog food due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.

Dog Food Advisor states the recall happened when a customer reported that her dog got sick after eating JustFoodForDogs’ Turducken special. JustFoodForDogs immediately initiated testing on the food, revealing Listeria monocytogenes in the company’s human-grade green bean supply. JustFoodForDogs has recalled all recipes that contain green beans.

The bacteria may not effect healthy dogs, but signs of infection include vomiting and diarrhea. Elderly or sick dogs are more at risk. However, severe disease from this bacteria is rare for dogs.
