I wish I would have found you sooner

I have been owner of German Shepard’s for the past 15 years.
my last puppy suffered from allergies and constant skin rashes due to the same affliction.
I trusted my vet. Hard lesson to learn, they do not always know best.

I agree, I listen to what they say then do what I think is best anyway. I have a friend that has a doxie, her vet suggested cyclopoint and I talked her out of it, I told her to get a bottle of colloidal silver, mix it with water and put it in a spray bottle and spray the dog a couple of times a day. She did and is still thanking me for the relief it gave the dog, no more itching and even the pink patches are gone.

I've had shepherds for over 40 years, love the breed

Welcome to the forum Moses. I also wish I found the forum much earlier.

It is true that vets do not always know best. Justl ike with doctors for people, they all make mistakes on the job. There is nothing we can do about that except learn from it in some cases, while other times it is possible to get a second opinion and read a lot about the condition (including treatments) online. Hopefully now that you are here, we can help you with your next dog (trust me, there will be a next dog).

I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your dog Moses. It's such a heartbreak and unfortunately we've all been through it and we can comfort each other.

Ib never thought about that. They bury feeding mistakes for sure, likef when I complained Hill's k/d was causing Patricia to lose weight. (The vet said cats don't lose weight on it because of a higher fat content, but that obviously was not helping her.) It's not always the wrong answer though and sometimes vets do correct their mistakes. However I always recommend a second opinion when the vet seems to not know what he/she is doing.
