Question White and yellow vomit on carpet

I never saw this before: white fluid that solidified and stuck to the carpet. Some of it could be peeled off ,but the carpet hardened underneath. Inches away there was something else I never saw before: bright yellow streaks of vomitus. I thought it was urine, but Mom sniffed the carpet and said it smelled like vomit. The prooximity would indicate Daisy threw up only one time, but then why would the messes be different colors? And why aren't they dark brown?

If its a one time thing I wouldn't be to worried but if it happens again I'd have her checked out, it could be some sort of infection. Yellow is a sign of bile which comes from the liver

Yes, it is a one-time thing. I was actually more worried about the carpet being damaged.

I always keep a can of foam carpet cleaner and sponge handy for quick clean ups, don't think I ever had anything stain except when I gave my dog who was dying from cancer some Colloidal Silver once, that left a bluish gray stain on the carpet, but it faded with washings. Don't have that old carpet anymore.

The carpet salesman said it is pet friendly, which of course means it is good for muddy paws and accidents for people who have dogs. Unfortunately cat vomit is another story - the area still looks like it did when Mom applied Zep carpet cleaner. At least the yellow streaks are gone, but my uncle flying down from St. Paul and will see the ugly result of a basic cleanup job.

So what's up with Daisy throwing up two different things at the same time with an empty stomach earlier this week?

I don't see why it would be a big clean up problem, just go over the spot again with a clean sponge that has cold water on it, then reapply some more carpet shampoo, then scrub a little and rinse thoroughly again and let dry completely before you vacuum up. Repeat if needed. It's hard to pinpoint exactly why she threw up like that, she may have had an empty stomach, she may have had some acidity that was irritating her, or she might have had a hairball she was trying to dislodge.

What would cause her stomach to become too acidic?

Well, I'm not a vet, but just like people, animals can get heartburn or acid reflux at times which cause irritation of the stomach or esophagus when the acids come up through the esophagus and into the throat. In people sometimes antacids are taken to temporarily relieve the problem acids by raising the pH, but acids are needed to digest foods so antacids shouldn't be used too often. In a cat I imagine some of the bile vomiting might have been caused by an empty stomach, hairball, etc. If it's no a recurring problem, then you shouldn't be too concerned.

So far Daisy has been fine. I am not worried about her.

LOL You can't even see what she looks like. She has gray tabby markings on the top of her head that don't show up in any pictures. The avatar resizing caused her to look skinnier than she is.

You should take a better picture of her CatMom and post a full size photo so we can see those markings.

I have converted the original post to a haiku poem.

    White, yellow vomit
Bright streaks stuck to the carpet
    Why different colors?

LOL Did dogs teach you to be silly?

The white stuff was stuck to the carpet. The yellow junk was not.
