Just come back from todays trip so can share some more photos

This is Telfair's Skink, one of the species of reptiles on Mauritius that was threatened with extinction. Gerald Durrell, the founder of the Zoo played a critical role in its conservation.

I wanted to photograph the Mountain Chicken (a critically endangered species of large frog) but it was camera shy apparently so didn't get to see it.

    Green Tree Python

    Crested Black Macaque

    Mother and son having fun

This young Gorilla was only 5 years old and was practicing what he learnt from his dad, chest beating!

The Meerkats were very relaxed lol

    Baby Orangutan having fun

Nicobar Pigeon with its beautiful iridescent plumage

The bird habitat was a walk-in enclosure, it was very large and was like walking in the jungle.

Jersey Zoo was fantastic for naturalistic enclosures and excellent for the work they do for conservation too!
