RELIABLE Calming Treats for Storms and Fireworks

My Dachshunds freak out during thunder storms, and will not settle down unless they are held, which isn't always possible. In the past, friends have told me they use calming treats that work great, whereas all I seem to find are homeopathic treats that are generally reviewed poorly. I'm not looking for something that was blessed by monks or otherwise ineffective. I'm looking for something that calms anxious pets reliably.

Were some such treats removed from retail recently? Why does the market appear flooded with homeopathic remedies many consumers report do not work?

I prefer Adaptil Spray. Its cheap and I can use it for months. Shirts and collars are one-time use.
