Thinking of getting a cat. Are strays in Colombia friendly?

I currently live in Medellin and been proudly making my way in this city for about 4 years now. Iím starting to feel quite lonely recently and I finally decided that I want to adopt a pet cat.
Iím not much of a dog person but I feel as though having a cat is the best choice for me and my financial stability.

Iíve read some reviews from Colombian women and foreigners alike who are living here, that the strays are pretty tame and friendly. But I want to personally hear from long time locals and foreigners who chose to settle down here as well.
    Any insights and personal experiences?

Welcome to the forum. Thank you for choosing to rescue a stray cat.

Yes, strays are friendly. They are cats who had homes but somehow got lost and never returned or were dumped by people who did not want htem anymore.
Keep your cats inside and safe.

a feral is a feral no matter where it is, You may or may not be able to tame it, if not go to a shelter and get one there
he is your friend and protector, he will love you unconditionally, you owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion

A shelter is also a great idea. Thanks for the tip, Linda!

Getting a cat from a shelter is great, but if you see strays and they come to you, let your heart rule.

Our Loki was a stray, and now he is 15 years old, and a blessing to us.

    Just see what happens.

They can't read or write, but they sure can multiply. Please spay or neuter your pet.

Another way to put it: Let the cat choose you. The gut feeling that "this is my cat" will come to you when a furball shows up on your porch.
Keep your cats inside and safe.
