    Betta's are GREAT pets!

    Hi everyone,

I have to betta fish, and I would like to share a few things about them. First, for all you newbies out there who want a pet I would start with Betta fish.....they are great pets, easy to care for, and very pretty! You may be thinking right now "Oh I'm not getting a betta..they can't do tricks." Well, thats not true. Betta's can do lots of tricks such as jumping straight out of the tank and grabbing a bit of betta fish food from your finger. They can do lots of others, just look up "Tricks to train my betta fish" on youtube and you will soon have a cute little trickster! But remember, some betta's don't learn...but that is unlikely. BTW I call my Betta's rainbow and swimmer!

Rainbow is red, white and blue; swimmer is red and purple.

Rainbow: Pictures of both are here: http://www.petforums.com/showthread....ow-and-Swimmer!

I just made a correction to Wiki's Siamese Fighting Fish page. At the top, it used to say:

The Siamese fighting fish (Betta splendens), commonly known as the betta (Thai: ปลากัด; lit: "fighting fish"), is a popular fish in the aquarium trade.

The Thai word กัด means "bite", not "fight", so literally the Thai name means "biting fish", not "fighting fish":

The Siamese fighting fish (Betta splendens), commonly known as the betta (Thai: ปลากัด; lit: "biting fish"), is a popular fish in the aquarium trade.
