    Flea prevention

Hi, I new to this forum and I have a question. I have a 5 year old, 7 lb shitzu. I live in the desert and we don't have fleas. At Christmas time I'm thinking of taking her with me to visit my son and they live at the beach area where they do have fleas. What can I do for her to prevent her getting fleas and also bringing them back home with us?

Put a dose of frontline on her, this will kill any fleas and tics that get on her, one dose is good for a month. And if there are mosquitoes in your or your son's area put her on heartworm preventative. The heartworm pill will kill any heartworm larva she contracted the month before.

There is one topical treatment that prevents both flea and heartworm infestations: Revolution. It would be easier than buying separate flea and worm killers.

Can confirm that Revolution did not kill ticks when I tried it. Frontline Plus has always kept fleas and ticks completely away for me. Read and follow instructions very carefully. Do not let your dog ingest it.

I don't see any mention of ticks in the first post.
