    * Terms and conditions apply. Your actual solstice designation, day length, and night length will vary, depending if you are in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere. If the latter, you may be required to wait until June 22, 2019 for Winter Solstice. Readers are responsible for their own accommodations and arrangements until such time. Meanwhile, Happy Summer Solstice!

Actually they wait until June 21.

Therre is absolutely nothing wrong with Alpha's post. Not everyone celebrates Christmas, but you had no issues with threads about that.

So are you actually excited about the arrival of winter Alpha or just letting everyone know this season kicked off?

I wouldn't say 'excited' but I welcome the winter season and look forward to its charms and I wanted to wish everyone a happy winter.

For me "happy winter" neabs several things:

    1. Almost time for Christmas
    2. Almost time for a nephew's bar mitzvhah
    3. Almost time to shop for a better tree.

Holidays, celebrations and shopping are my least favorite things about winter. I embrace the beauty of nature and solitude of snow falling on a winter's day. I like all four seasons, but summer is my least favorite and I would never live in a place where it was hot all year 'round with no real winter or changing of the seasons.

Why don't you like celebrating holidays? I don't like shopping either, but now we are done with that part.

Yes they are, but noneo fhe commercial stuff takes away the true meaning of Christmas for those who believe in Jesus.

I know, I wish it wasn't that way.

I'm only thinking of other people. I live in Thailand, still a bit north of the Equator. To cross to the Southern Hemisphere, you'd need to reach Indonesia.
