Teaching children to approach unknown dogs

My children loves dogs. The two GSDs I have are very patient and playful with them.

How do I teach my children to approach unknown dogs without getting hurt, or them hurting the dogs?

It's nice that your dogs are so patient, but unfortunately other dogs that are not used to children may not be so kind. I wouldn't let my children pet any strange dogs, only dogs who are with their owners, and have approved the child's interaction with their pet. Children are never too young to be taught to be gentle around animals. Here's some good tips from Haopee...http://www.petforums.com/f12/ways-pr...g-bitten-2008/
