    Misc. Pet Picture Thread

A dog rescued from South Korea's dog meat industry waits for a flight out of Seoul.
(Jean Chung for The New York Times)

The NYT source article is here, but of course be warned that it is disturbing.

We all wish that each and every dog gets rescued from the meat trade...such a horrible thing.

There's something other-worldly about the dog and fox picture. I keep expecting Rumpelstiltskin to jump out from behind the tree. Or maybe Jonny Depp.

A man volunteering at a wildlife rescue in Mississippi gained the trust of a badly injured and very sick wild owl while caring for and rehabilitating the owl back to health. The owl was later released.

Baltimore Raven Ronnie Stanley recently came to Baltimore Animal Rescue & Care Shelter (BARCS) with his girlfriend and specifically requested, "We are looking for a dog that's been here a long time and maybe not-so-adoptable." Ronnie and his girlfriend signed Winter's adoption papers and took her to her new home the same day.

The note reads, “My name is Cletus!! My owner decided she could not keep me anymore because she does not have a place to stay. I am a very good dog. I’m 11-years-old but I still play like a puppy. I don’t chew anything but food. I’m house broken. I’m great with kids. I play, catch Frisbees, and love to give hugs. Can you please help me find a home? I don’t want to go to the shelter.”

Wow, I don't know who to feel sadder for- Cletus or his former caregiver.

Cletus is at a shelter in Lawrenceville, Georgia now. Hopefully he can find a new home.
