Why do dogs walk in a circle before lying down?

My niece is asking me why dogs walk in a circle before lying down. She’s pretty curious so I told her that “Dogs get this behavior from their wild ancestors, who didn’t have access to doggy beds. Walking in tight circles would push down tall grass and shape it into a bed. The motion would also scare off any bugs and snakes hiding in the vegetation.”
That was based from what I’ve read before. But, do you guys any other idea about this? I became curious too when she suddenly asked me haha
