Cytopoint - DM

I have a now 6 year old Chug- Chihuahua/Pug- who was given a cytopoint shot last summer for allergies. Last summer I had to take her to animal hospital as she was falling over, could not stand for too long and could barely squat to pee. After some muscle relaxers, steroids, and pain meds for 3 weeks she was back to her hyper, overactive self. Two weeks ago took her for her rabies shot and cytopoint shot since she was itching. Two weeks later she is wobbling and falling over when she walks and dragging the back of her front right paw on floor. Took her to vet and they said it is DM. They asked when I first noticed her wobbling and it developed in just like a day, few days ago she was jumping around, shoving toys in my face looking to play tug of war and for me to throw and her chase toys. DM is a progressive disease so I am very suspicious about the cytopoint shot. I did not find anything until I actually googled cytopoint and spinal issues. She is not getting it again and I hope the meds help her along with physical therapy to get her back to health. There really needs to be more research on this new kind of drug before it’s given to family pets.

Sorry you had this experience, do a search on this forum and you will find out what people have been going through after their dog got this shot. I hope your little one will recover.

Did you file a complaint with Zoetis, the manufacturer? Cytopoint is a killer. There have been many stories written on PetForum about htis
