Cytopoint for puppies?

Hello,

I have a young Golden puppy and his sister was given a Cytopoint shot at 10.5 weeks of age! At the same time the vet - who is a „skin specialist„ - gave the puppy a dewormer.
From what I understand, Cytopoint is for atopic dermatitis which puppies that age just don’t have. I should mention that this vet apparently works scientifically with the manufacturer of Cytopoint, Zoetis.
A week after this injection the puppy had a very swollen face and trouble breathing. The owner suspected an insect bite and went to emergency vet who treated it as an insect bite. The puppy was constantly under supervision that day and never cried or yelped as if stung by a wasp.
I wonder if perhaps it wasn’t a sting but rather a facial edema, which is a possible reaction to Cytopoint.
I’m frankly shocked that a vet would inject something like this into a puppy so young, whose immune system is just developing. She didn’t even try anything else for the itching. The puppy was not self mutilating, there were no sores or rash, just some itching.
I feel like this vet is experimenting on this puppy for a field trial or so with zero regard for that puppy‘s long term health.
Has anyone ever heard of a 10 week old puppy getting Cytopoint? If yes, were the dogs ok later?
This is in Germany.

Cheers,
Swanie

I've read them all, each and every one. I'm specifically interested in experiences with puppies under 3 months old.
None of the cases reported here are about young puppies.

that might be because people have enough sense not to give the shot to a puppy or any other dog. especially something that is going to affect the immune system of a developing puppy. What kind of an idiot would even suggest such a thing.

a Veterinarian skin specialist
And the puppy in question is the one that the breeder kept. Poor little girl.

In the picture my little guy, Huckleberry. needless to say he'll never get anything like Cytopoint. I'm a holistic practitioner for pets, so I never use anything like that anyway. I've had quite a few pets that have had Cytopoint shots and/or Apoquel in my practice. Nasty stuff, all of it.
