Why is it so hard to find a vet to spay and neuter my cats?! Everyone that I've called in my area and even out of state has told me that they are either not doing it due to covid or it will cost me $600!!!!! (for one NOT including anesthetics) When I ask for any kind of birth control they can prescribe my cat they tell me that it's not that big of a deal. I'm trying to be responsible but the vet in my community is making it impossible. Vets in southern California aren't taking cat over population seriously and it needs to stop. we're literally overrun by cats! I love my fur babies but I don't want a million and two cats running around.

Where do you live? I don't think it should be such a problem. Have you contacted shelters or low cost clinics and asked for recommendations? I commend you for not wanting to breed cats and have unwanted kittens around. Too many puppies and kittens already.

There should be low cost spay/neuter programs. Even at my vet it is $248.00 per female cat. Covid is not an issue. I got the girls fixed for $10.00 a piece plus rabies shots at the humane society.

I don't understand, unless the costs vary from state to state?
