Hello to everyone. I am new to this forum.

I have a cute 10 year old Shih tzu who recently was diagnosed with luxating patella grade 1.5. The Vet said it will work its way back itself but after 2 weeks he still limps with his back leg. He seems to be in good spirit but limps constantly. Has anyone had the same symptoms with their dog?

luxating pattella does not develop overnight, its a condition a lot of small dogs suffer from but you would have noticed it before ten years. Maybe its arthritis from old age? You could try putting him on a pain med like deramax and see if that helps. deramax is an anti flamatory pain med a cousin to ramidyl but not as many side effects. With all antiflamatory meds he will need regular blood test to make sure its not affecting his kidneys. You could also take him to a dog chiropractor if you don't want to go the pain med route.
