Anyone know what this is? Noticed it yesterday when playing with my 3-1/2 yr old German Shepherd male. Can't get in to see a vet here in AZ for 4 weeks.

Thank you for the info...much appreciated. I hope it heals soon. I was told also that the Aloe gel is a good healing plant also.

Yes Aloe Vera will seal it from any dirt getting in and it also keeps it cool, just make sure it is either the plant and freshly cut it or purchase 100% pure Aloe Vera gel.... I use it with my own dogs
