Hi and welcome! I personally would NOT advise adopting dogs from craigslist or other online sites. In Arizona, the first place I suggest you go to is the humane society. There are also other shelters that they can recommend if you don't find a puppy of your liking. http://www.azhumane.org/adopt-a-pet/dogs/ See if the dog you adopt has been neutered and had all his shots, at a reputable shelter that should not be a problem.

I don't think good place to look for puppy on azhumane.org because the owner give up their dog then they send it to there. However if you looking for big dog then you can go there

I definitely advise checking with local rescues and shelters, instead of buying from a pet store or breeder. If you can purchase a dog from a breeder with the budget you have in mind, it's not good. Definitely check with your local shelters, like Alpha recommended.

Local rescues and shelters are far better choices than online ones... if you're in the US, there are a lot of places to start looking at... If you don't have any idea where the shelters are in your area, start with Pet Finder http://www.petfinder.com/.

From there onward, try going to these local shelters... Puppies are great, but they grow old too... so please don't focus solely on the young ones... a lot of older dogs in the shelters are actually friendly, lovable and potty-trained. You'd be surprised how some of these dogs end up there. Also, some shelters do have puppies, it's a matter of dropping by their place and seeing it with your baby girl... try to think of it as a way to bond and learn more about dogs.

Or if you do get it from a breeder, like what Alpha has mentioned, make sure they're reputable. The problem with transacting online and picking up a puppy without seeing its mom or current living conditions is that you'll never know what it's about to grow into. He/she may have genetic conditions, compromised immune systems or skin issues that's waiting to explode. And unfortunately, these issues can make taking care of our dogs burn the hell out our wallets.

Finally, check out these sites:

http://www.azhumane.org/adopt-a-pet/dogs/
https://aawl.org/content/adoptable-dogs

both sides have a number of puppies.

Best of luck to your adoption- I agree to seek out local shelters, and maybe read up on the breed of dog that works best for you and your little one.
