Hello everyone, I have a nearly 3 year old axolotl all black (melanistic) that has become ill, he started floating, getting bone skinny, and looked as if he shed his slime coat. He is now nearly all light pink, small gills but he's not floating. I don't understand what is happening. We're keeping him in a small tub to regulate the water as well as giving him tea baths but he's been like this for nearly 2 months now. He still eats.
My axolotl is sick and changed colors?

Mabye take him to the vet for a check up. I don't know a whole lot about axolotls

My friend owns axolotls and said this. "Shedding skin is not a good sign and is usually caused by poor water quality or high temps." Mabye test the water?
