My dog drinks lot of water and pee frequently

My dog is 12 years age male a miniature Daschund. He started drinking lot more water then usual. He drinks almost 800 ml water every day and goes out for peeing around 7 to 8 times. We visited Vet and they ran blood test. He doesn't have Diabetes or any Kidney decease. Also, we checked that all the symptoms described in Cushing is also not present. Doctor is recommending to do Cushing test but I am not convinced that he has Cushing issue. Can someone share solution if you had similar situation with your dog?

You won't know for sure whether or not your dog has Cushings until you run the test. My older dog started drinking lots of water but she was diagnosed with kidney failure.
