Hi, so my dog is afraid of his food/water bowls. He lately has been scared of his bowls we have had my dog for about 3 years and this hasn't happened before. We would give him his usual food at the same time we always have, he would eat some but then stop. He would whine and look at us like he wants help getting to his food. At first we thought he was scared of the clingy sound that his collar was making on the metal bowl, so we took it off. Even when we did that he still didn't eat his food. We then thought that he didn't like our metal bowl maybe he didn't like the shape or how deep it was so we changed his it to a paper plate. He wouldn't eat his food with the paper plate and just kept whining. I thought maybe his neck was hurting but. He would still play with his toys, like his neck was fine and he didn't seem to have and injuries. He drinks from his water bowl sometimes but others he would just look at it and whine. I want to know waht his happening and how I can fix it. If anyone has any idea why this is happening please notify and reply.

I asked if he was willing to eat from your hand because I thought maybe it's an issue with eating and doesn't have anything to do with the bowl. It is strange that he was eating from the same bowl and now suddenly he doesn't want to. Maybe the stuff you use to clean the bowl, or maybe the floor? Would he eat if you held the bowl?

He would not eat it if we held the bowl. The only way he would eat his food is if we dump it out on the floor our shake the food.

Thank you so much for your suggestion! I tried cleaning my dogs bowl then giving him food. At first he seemed interested but he then backed away. We tried changing his bowl to our bedroom but he wouldn't eat. At this point I probably do need to get him a new bowl.

I would speak to your vet about this. When a dog shows signs of odd behavior as this, a vet is your best friend. Take him there. See what is going on. See what you can do to help him.
